Using Your Insurance Benefits

Most extended health plans in Ontario include physiotherapy coverage, and you do not need a doctor's referral to book — physiotherapists in Ontario are primary care practitioners. Some insurance plans still ask for a referral before they'll reimburse, so it's worth a quick call to your provider before your first visit.

    Direct billing

Yes. StrengthFlow bills many extended health plans directly through TELUS eClaims, Sun Life, Green Shield, and Blue Cross. Coverage depends on your plan, so ask us before your first visit whether yours is included. If it isn't, you'll get a receipt to submit to your insurer yourself.

WSIB and motor vehicle accident claims

StrengthFlow treats workplace injuries and injuries from motor vehicle accidents.

WSIB: you'll need your WSIB claim number before your first visit. We bill WSIB directly. If one part of your body was injured, treatment can usually start right away, even while your claim is pending. If more than one part was injured, WSIB has to approve treatment first. See WSIB & Workplace Injuries for details.

Car accidents: StrengthFlow is registered with HCAI, the system Ontario auto insurers use for treatment claims, so we bill your auto insurer directly. After your assessment, we submit a treatment plan to your insurer. Some plans need the insurer's approval before treatment continues, and we'll tell you where yours stands before you go ahead.

Since July 1, 2026, your auto insurer is the first payer for physiotherapy after a car accident, ahead of any extended health plan. See Car Accident Injuries for how the process works.

What to bring to your first visit

    • Your benefits card or insurance policy details
    • Your claim number, for a WSIB or motor vehicle accident claim
    • Comfortable clothing you can move in
    • Any imaging or reports related to your injury, if you have them

    A note on OHIP

Physiotherapy at StrengthFlow is private pay. It is not covered by OHIP.

Coverage varies by plan. Confirming your physiotherapy benefits with your insurer before your first visit is the fastest way to avoid surprises.
