Physiotherapy After a Car Accident in Woodbridge

If you were hurt in a car accident in Ontario, your auto insurance covers physiotherapy through accident benefits, whether or not the accident was your fault. StrengthFlow is registered with HCAI, the system Ontario auto insurers use for treatment claims, so we bill your insurer directly for approved treatment.

Johnny Chaya, Registered Physiotherapist, assesses and treats you one-on-one at every visit. Our administrator keeps track of your forms, approvals and visits.

    Your auto insurance pays first

Since July 1, 2026, your auto insurer is the first payer for physiotherapy after a car accident in Ontario, ahead of any extended health plan you have through work or school. In most cases, you won't need to use your extended health benefits for accident-related physiotherapy.

    Common injuries after a collision

    • Whiplash and neck pain
    • Back pain
    • Shoulder, hip and knee injuries
    • Headaches, dizziness and other concussion symptoms
    • Sprains, strains and muscle injuries
    • Recovery after a fracture or surgery

Some injuries don't show up right away. Pain and stiffness often build over the first few days after a collision.

    Concussion after a collision

A concussion can happen without hitting your head. The jolt of a collision alone can cause one. Headaches, dizziness, trouble with balance or feeling foggy can last for weeks.

Concussion rehabilitation is part of Johnny's neurological practice. Treatment may include work on balance, dizziness, neck movement, and a gradual return to work, school and activity.

How it works, step by step

    1. Tell your auto insurer about the accident as soon as you can. They open a claim and send you an application package. The forms have deadlines, so don't wait.
    2. Book your assessment. You don't need a doctor's referral.
    3. Bring photo ID, your auto insurer's name, your claim number, your adjuster's name and contact details, and your completed application form (OCF-1) if you have it.
    4. At your first visit, Johnny assesses your injuries and how they affect your daily life, work and sleep. He uses standard measures that he repeats over time to track how you're doing. You'll also sign a consent form (OCF-5) that lets us share your health information with your insurer.
    5. We send your treatment plan to your insurer. For many sprain, strain and whiplash injuries, treatment follows a provincial guideline (the Minor Injury Guideline) and can usually begin without waiting for approval. Other injuries need the insurer to approve the plan first. We'll tell you which applies to you and where your approval stands.
    6. We bill your insurer directly through HCAI and keep track of how many approved visits you have left.

    Forms and paperwork

We complete the clinical forms for your claim: treatment plans (OCF-18 and OCF-23) and, when requested, disability certificates (OCF-3). Our administrator tracks your plan, its approval status, your approved visits, and any approved medical goods, like a brace or exercise equipment.

    If you have a lawyer

You don't need a lawyer to get physiotherapy through your auto insurance. If you do have one, we can share your records with them once you give written consent.

    Cost and coverage

Approved treatment is billed to your auto insurer under Ontario's auto insurance fee rules, not our private-pay price list. If any part of your treatment isn't approved, we'll tell you before you go ahead.

The clinic is on the ground floor, with a step-free entrance, automatic doors and accessible parking.

Online booking lists two car accident assessments. If you're not sure which one fits your claim, call (905) 605-7070 and we'll book it for you.
